Nonane is a linear alkane hydrocarbon with the chemical formula C₉H₂₀. It is a colourless liquid, and highly flammable hence mainly used as a component of the fuel source kerosene. Other applications include it's uses as a solvent, distillation chaser, fuel additive, and biodegradable detergents.
