Agaricus
is a
genus
of
mushrooms
containing both
edible
and
poisonous
species, with possibly over 300 members worldwide. The genus includes the common ("button") mushroom (
Agaricus bisporus
) and the field mushroom (
Agaricus campestris
), the dominant
cultivated mushrooms
of the West.
