The Bali Nine is the name given to a group of nine Australians convicted for smuggling  of heroin valued at around A$4 million (3.1 million US dollars) from Indonesia to Australia. Ringleaders Andrew Chan and Myuran Sukumaran were sentenced to death and were executed on 29 April 2015. Other members Si Yi Chen, Michael Czugaj, Renae Lawrence, Tan Duc Thanh Nguyen, Matthew Norman, Scott Rush, and Martin Stephens were sent to prison. Australian authorities contacted their Indonesian counterparts with the tip-off that precipitated these arrests.
