The Battle of Champaubert (10 February 1814) was the opening engagement of the Six Days' Campaign. It was fought between 15,000 French soldiers led by Napoleon and a 3,700-man Russian division under Lieutenant General Count Nicolay Dmitrevich Olssufiev (1775–1817). One Russian brigade was destroyed and the second brigade escaped after being badly mauled. Olssufiev became a prisoner. Champaubert is located east of Paris.
