Berhane Asfaw (Amharic: በርሃነ አስፋው) is an Ethiopian paleontologist of Rift Valley Research Service, who co-discovered human skeletal remains at Herto Bouri, Ethiopia that revealed a transition into modern humans (Homo sapiens sapiens). The specimen was called Homo sapiens idaltu (elder).
