The
curly-tailed lizards are a
family,
Leiocephalidae, of
lizards which are widely distributed throughout much of the
Caribbean, but are relatively unstudied. They were previously regarded as members of subfamily Leiocephalinae within the family
Tropiduridae. There are presently 29 known
species.
Leiocephalus is the only
genus in the family Leiocephalidae.
