The Carolina Panthers are a professional American football team based in Charlotte, North Carolina. The team was founded in 1993, when, along with the Jacksonville Jaguars, they were accepted into the league as an expansion team. The Panthers are owned by Jerry Richardson, the team's founder and a former NFL player.
