Novorossiya or New Russia (; ), also referred to as the Union of People's Republics (; ), was a proposed confederation of the self-proclaimed Donetsk People's Republic (DPR) and Luhansk People's Republic (LPR) in eastern Ukraine, both of which share a border with Russia. In Ukraine the 'confederation' was located in what is known as the Anti-Terrorist Operation Zone.
