Statement of work
A Statement of Work (SOW) is a document, routinely employed in the field of project management, which defines project-specific activities, deliverables and their respective timelines, all of which form a contractual obligation upon the vendor, in providing services to the client. The SOW typically also includes detailed requirements and pricing, with standard regulatory and governance terms and conditions. It is an important, often essential, accompaniment to a Master Services Agreement or Request for Proposal (RFP), thus an integral part of a contract between vendor and client to provide project services. The Master Services Agreement serves as a master contract governing the terms over, potentially, multiple SOWs.
