Ujjain District is a
district of
Madhya Pradesh state in
central India. The historic city of
Ujjain is the district headquarters. Tropic of cancer passes through
Ujjain. The district has an area of 6,091 km², and a population of 1,709,885 (2001 census), a 24% increase from its 1991 population of 1,386,465.
