ATHENE (Atoomreactor THE Nederland) was een kernreactor voor onderwijs- en onderzoeksdoeleinden bij de Nederlandse Technische Hogeschool Eindhoven (THE), nu de Technische Universiteit Eindhoven.

Pallas Athena (ook Athena of Athene) (Attisch: , Pallás Athêna, , Athéne) is een van de voornaamste godinnen uit het Griekse pantheon. Zij is de godin van de hemel, en wel van de heldere, klare hemel, van de reine, zuivere bovenlucht (aether). In de Griekse mythologie is zijzelf even rein als die lucht. Daarom bleef haar maagdelijkheid steeds ongerept. Zij is vooral bekend als de godin van de wijsheid en godin van de kunst. Daarnaast wordt ze vaak genoemd als godin van de krijgskunst en vrede.
