Barwaha is a
municipality in
Khargone district in the state of
Madhya Pradesh,
India. This is a beautiful town situated on the banks of the
Narmada River. It has got the largest
CISF training campus in India and is also known for its bright students. Main India
census, Barwaha had a population of 33,559. Males constitute 52% of the population and females 48%. Barwaha has an average literacy rate of 74%, higher than the national average of 59.5%; with 56% of the males and 44% of females literate. 13% of the population is under 6 years of age. The city is surrounded by hundreds of very small villages and so is the main market area for those villages. On every Tuesday people from all these villages come to purchase their weekly required materials, whereas on Friday most of the shops remain closed.
