Bodrum

Bodrum is a district and a port city in Mugla Province, in the southwestern Aegean Region of Turkey. It is located on the southern coast of Bodrum Peninsula, at a point that checks the entry into the Gulf of Gökova, and is also the center of the eponymous district. The city was called Halicarnassus of Caria in ancient times and was famous for housing the Mausoleum of Mausolus, one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World. Bodrum Castle, built by the Knights Hospitaller in the 15th century, overlooks the harbour and the marina. The castle grounds include a Museum of Underwater Archaeology and hosts several cultural festivals throughout the year. The city had a population of 36,317 in 2012.

Bodrum ist eine Stadt und ein Landkreis in der Provinz Mugla im Südwesten der Türkei. Bodrum ist zugleich der Name des Landkreises (Ilçe). Seit einer Gebietsreform 2014 ist der Landkreis flächen- und einwohnermäßig identisch mit der Kreisstadt.

Bodrum (originalmente, en griego, Ἁλικαρνασσός Halicarnaso, luego Petronium, de donde procede el nombre actual) es un puerto turco en la provincia de Muğla. Está ubicado en la península de Bodrum, cerca de la entrada noroeste del golfo de Gökova, en frente de la isla griega de Cos. Es un centro de turismo y náutica y en la antigüedad era conocida como la Halicarnaso de Caria, famosa por su Mausoleo. El pueblo se ha convertido en un resort turístico muy popular para los europeos del norte debido a su atractiva costa y a su activa vida nocturna. Con una población de 36.401 habitantes (censo 2013), recibe cientos de miles de turistas cada año.

Bodrum (Grieks: Halikarnassos) is een stad aan de zuidwestkust van Turkije aan de Golf van Gökova. Het ligt tegenover het Griekse eiland Kos.
