Delhi

Delhi (, Dilli), officially the National Capital Territory of Delhi, is the capital territory of India. Delhi is historically and culturally connected to both the Upper Doab of the Yamuna-Ganges river system and the Punjab region. It is bordered by Haryana on three sides and by Uttar Pradesh to the east. It is the largest city in India in terms of geographical area - about 1,484 square kilometers. It has a population of about 16.3 million, making it the second most populous city and second most populous urban agglomeration in India and in the world. Such is the nature of urban expansion in Delhi that its growth has expanded beyond the NCT to incorporate towns in neighbouring states and at its largest extent can count a population of about 25 million residents as of 2014.

Delhi (Hindi , , Panjabi ; []) ist eine Metropole im Norden Indiens und als Nationales Hauptstadtterritorium Delhi (National Capital Territory of Delhi, kurz NCT) ein direkt der indischen Zentralregierung unterstelltes Unionsterritorium. Delhi schließt mit Neu-Delhi die indische Hauptstadt ein.

Delhi (hindi: दिल्ली, urdú: دیلی) forma el 'Territorio Capital Nacional' de la República de la India. Contiene la nueva ciudad de Nueva Delhi, la cual ha dejado de ser un área urbana distinguible pero contiene la mayoría de las instituciones administrativas del gobierno nacional y es considerada formalmente la capital.

| Delhi (Hindi: दिल्ली Dillī, Urdu: دیلی) is een stad in India. De stad valt bestuurlijk niet onder een deelstaat maar is een "territorium", dat onder andere het district New Delhi bevat, de hoofdstad van India. Delhi heeft een inwonersaantal van 11.007.835 (2011) en de gehele agglomeratie 16.314.838 (2011). Dat maakt het na Bombay de op één na grootste stad van India. Delhi is een industriestad, verkeersknooppunt, een cultureel centrum met universiteiten, theaters, musea, galerieën en historische bouwwerken uit de Mogoltijd. Delhi was van 1912 tot 1931 de hoofdstad van Brits-Indië. Sinds 1931 geldt alleen New Delhi officieel als hoofdstad, een situatie die niet veranderde na de onafhankelijkheid van India.
