Guìyáng is the capital of
Guizhou province of
Southwest China. It is located in the centre of the province, situated on the east of the
Yunnan–Guizhou Plateau, and on the north bank of the Nanming River, a branch of the
Wu River. The city has an
elevation of about 1,100 meters. It has an area of . Its population was 4,324,561 at the 2010 census whom 3,037,159 lived in the built-up (
or metro) area made of 7 urban districts.
