Iran

Iran ( or ; ), also known as Persia ( or ), officially the Islamic Republic of Iran ( ), is a country in Western Asia. It is bordered to the northwest by Armenia, the de facto Nagorno-Karabakh, and Azerbaijan; with Kazakhstan and Russia across the Caspian Sea; to the northeast by Turkmenistan; to the east by Afghanistan and Pakistan; to the south by the Persian Gulf and the Gulf of Oman; and to the west by Turkey and Iraq. Comprising a land area of , it is the second-largest country in the Middle East and the 18th-largest in the world. With 78.4 million inhabitants, Iran is the world's 17th-most-populous country. It is the only country that has both a Caspian Sea and an Indian Ocean coastline. Iran has long been of geostrategic importance because of its central location in Eurasia and Western Asia, and its proximity to the Strait of Hormuz.

The name of Iran derives immediately from 3rd-century Sassanian Middle Persian , Pahlavi 'yr'n, where it initially meant "of the Iranians", but soon also acquired a geographical connotation in the sense of "(lands inhabited by) Iranians". In both geographic and demonymic senses, eran is distinguished from its antonymic aneran, meaning "non-Iran(ian)".

(Der) Iran (, , vollständig Islamische Republik Iran), früher und historisierend auch als Persien bezeichnet, ist ein Staat in Vorderasien (Westasien). Mit rund 75 Millionen Einwohnern (Stand 2011) und einer Fläche von 1.648.195 Quadratkilometern zählt er zu den 20 bevölkerungsreichsten und größten Staaten der Erde. Das Land ist seit 1979, als im Zuge der Islamischen Revolution der letzte Schah gestürzt wurde, ein Gottesstaat, der sich als islamische Republik bezeichnet.

Irán, cuyo nombre oficial es República Islámica de Irán (en persa, جمهوری اسلامی ایران, transliterado Ŷomhuri Eslāmi Irān, y pronunciado ‘Yomhurí-e Eslamí-e Irán’), es un Estado de Oriente Medio y Asia Occidental. Desde el I milenio a. C. hasta 1935 fue conocido en Occidente como Persia, aunque hoy en día este nombre sigue siendo válido y aceptado junto con el de Irán. Limita con Pakistán y Afganistán por el este; Turkmenistán por el noreste, el mar Caspio por el norte y Azerbaiyán y Armenia por el noroeste; Turquía e Irak por el oeste y finalmente con la costa del golfo Pérsico y el golfo de Omán por el sur.

Iran (of Perzië, Perzisch: ایران), officieel de Islamitische Republiek Iran (Perzisch: جمهوری اسلامی ایران Djoemhūrī-ye Eslāmī-ye Īrān), is een land in Zuidwest-Azië. De hoofdstad is Teheran, dat met meer dan 10 miljoen inwoners tevens de grootste stad van het land is. In totaal wonen er in Iran mensen. Het Perzisch, een Indo-Europese taal, is de officiële taal van Iran.

L’Iran , également connu sous le nom de la Perse, en forme longue la République islamique d'Iran , est un pays d'Asie de l'Ouest. Elle partage des frontières avec l'Afghanistan, l'Arménie, l'Azerbaïdjan, l'Irak, le Pakistan, le Turkménistan et la Turquie. Sa capitale est Téhéran (ou Tehran) et sa population est de habitants en octobre 2015. La  langue officielle est le persan et sa monnaie est le rial. Le calendrier officiel est le calendrier persan. Le nom Iran, qui signifie « royaume des Aryens », d'usage natif depuis l'ère Sassanide, a été officiellement adopté en 1935 pour l'usage international. Auparavant, le pays était connu en Occident sous le nom de Perse. Les noms « Perse » et « Iran » sont utilisés indifféremment dans le contexte culturel, mais « Iran » est le nom utilisé officiellement dans le contexte politique.
