Labium

Labium is the Latin word for lip. In English, it may refer to:

• Labia, a part of the female external genitalia
• Labium (botany), a modified petal in certain monocot flowers, which attracts insects for pollination
• Labium (arthropod mouthpart), a mouthpart of arthropods (the lower "lip")
• Labium (wasp), a genus of wasps in the family Ichneumonidae
• Labium (wind instrument), a part of wind instruments such as the recorder, see fipple

Als Labium (lat. labium „Lippe“; Plural Labien) bezeichnet man:

• in der Anatomie
  • allgemein einen lippenförmigen Rand oder Wulst, z. B. bei einem Hohlorgan oder Knochen
  • die Lippe
  • besonders im Plural die Schamlippen (Labien oder Labia)
• in der Musik
  • bei der Schnabelflöte die schräge Fläche an der Klangöffnung
  • im Orgelbau die „Lippe“ der Lippenpfeifen, siehe Orgelpfeife#Labialpfeifen
• in der Zoologie
  • Labium (Insekt), die Unterlippe der Insekten (Teil der Mundwerkzeuge)

El labio, labio inferior o labium es la más posterior de las piezas bucales de los insectos y algunos miriápodos (sínfilos). Se sitúa tras las maxilas y representa el suelo de la boca. Usualmente lleva un par de pequeños apéndices llamados palpos labiales.
