is an online presentation produced by
Nintendo, where information regarding the company's content or franchises is presented, such as information about games and consoles. The presentations began in Japan with the first edition on October 21, 2011. It later expanded to North America, Europe, South Korea, and Australia. There are different presenters depending on the region in which it airs. In Japan, Nintendo Direct was formerly presented by Nintendo global president
Satoru Iwata until his death on July 11, 2015. In North America and Europe however, it is presented by the president of
Nintendo of America,
Reggie Fils-Aimé, and the president of
Nintendo of Europe,
Satoru Shibata, respectively. South Korea also airs its own exclusive Nintendo Directs hosted by Nintendo of Korea president, Hiroyuki Fukuda. Australia only aired the European output since 2012, but on September 24, 2014, they aired their first and only exclusive Nintendo Direct for their region hosted by Tom Enoki. Although each region has its own presenter, on several occasions Iwata has presented for several continents for international Nintendo Directs. Following Iwata's death, the series went on hiatus, and returned in November 2015.
