Mozilla

Mozilla is a free-software community, created in 1998 by members of Netscape. The Mozilla community uses, develops, spreads and supports Mozilla products, thereby promoting exclusively free software and open standards, with only minor exceptions. The community is supported institutionally by the Mozilla Foundation and its tax-paying subsidiary, the Mozilla Corporation.

Der Begriff Mozilla [] steht für Internet-Software und für Projektorganisationen, die mit der Erstellung dieser Software verbunden sind. Aus dem Webbrowser Netscape Navigator, der unter dem Codenamen Mozilla entwickelt wurde, ist die Programmsammlung Mozilla Application Suite hervorgegangen. Das Unternehmen Netscape Communications Corporation, in dem die Software entwickelt wurde, führte zeitweilig eine farbige Echse, die den Namen Mozilla erhalten hatte, als ihr Firmenlogo.

Mozilla puede referirse a:

• La Fundación Mozilla, una organización sin ánimo de lucro que produce software libre; y Corporación Mozilla, empresa filial de propiedad total de la Fundación Mozilla.
• Mozilla, la comunidad de software libre , creada en 1998 por los miembros de Netscape.
• Mozilla Application Suite un programa que incluye navegador web y cliente de correo electrónico;
• Mozilla Firefox, un navegador web;
• Mozilla SeaMonkey, un navegador web;
• Mozilla Thunderbird, un cliente de correo electrónico;
• Mozilla Sunbird, un programa de calendario;
• El nombre en clave de los antiguos navegadores Netscape;
• La mascota de Netscape Communications Corporation.

Mozilla is een opensourceproject gericht op het handhaven van een keuzevrij en innovatief internet. In dit project wordt de ontwikkeling van Netscape voortgezet. Het project valt momenteel onder de verantwoordelijkheid van de Mozilla Foundation, en staat inmiddels bekend om onder meer Mozilla Firefox.

Mozilla est un nom utilisé en informatique avec beaucoup de significations différentes. Cependant toutes ces significations sont liées à l'ancienne entreprise américaine Netscape Communications (liquidée en 2003) et son logiciel phare Netscape Navigator. Les différents usages du terme « Mozilla » sont indiqués ci-dessous dans l'ordre chronologique de leur apparition.
