Mythologie

Mythologie ( mythos u. a. „Erzählung, Rede“, λέγειν legein „erzählen“, veraltet: Sagenwelt) bezeichnet die Gesamtheit der Mythen eines Kulturareales oder eines Volkes, einer Region oder einer sozialen Gruppe sowie ihre systematische Darlegung in literarischer, wissenschaftlicher oder religiöser Form. Es bestehen diverse kulturübergreifende Unterteilungen wie die Astralmythologie, die Zahlenmythologie und die Eschatologie. Das deutsche Wort „Mythologie“ erscheint erstmals 1712 in dem Buch Die teutsche Mythologie oder Beschreibung heidnischer Götter.

Mythologie duidt enerzijds op de systematische behandeling, in literaire, wetenschappelijke, mystieke of religieuze vorm, van de verzameling mythen van een volk, een religie of een etnische of sociale groep, en verwijst anderzijds ook naar het geheel van mythen van een bepaalde religieuze traditie.

La mythologie est (du grec μυθολογία, de μῦθος / mýthos « parole » et λόγος / lógos « discours »), soit un ensemble de mythes liés à une civilisation, une religion ou un thème particulier, soit l'étude de ces mythes. Les chercheurs qui étudient les mythologies sont appelés « mythologues ».

Mytologie (mythologie, bájesloví, prípadne bájeslovectví) je veda zabývající se studiem mýtu. Zároven je také toto slovo používáno jako termín pro predmet zkoumání této vedy, pro soustavu mýtu (napr. egyptská mytologie, recká mytologie, rímská mytologie). Doslovne znamená mytologie "vyprávení príbehu" a toto slovo bylo tak puvodne i užíváno. Tradicne bývá razena do antropologie náboženství.
