The
Natukhai (, with the possible sense нэ-тхуэ-джэ eye-white-with,'With Light Eye(s)', the /-a-/s in the name being phonologically predictable) are a people of the
Adyghe branch, who are the original dwellers of the far northwest of historical
Circassia. Their areas historically extended along the Black Sea coast from
Anapa in the north to
Tsemes Bay (now
Novorossiysk) in the south and from the north side of the mountains to the lower
Kuban River.
