Openreach

Openreach is a communications infrastructure company which owns and maintains the fibres, wires, ducting and cables that connect nearly all businesses and homes in the UK to the national broadband and telephone network. It is a heavily regulated subsidiary of BT Group that is subject to legally binding 'Undertakings' which enable all communications providers to access its infrastructure on 'fair and equal terms'. This means that many of its wholesale prices are regulated by the independent regulator and competition authority for the UK communications industries, Ofcom.
