Pochinok, Pochinkovsky District, Smolensk Oblast
Pochinok is a town and the administrative center of Pochinkovsky District in Smolensk OblastRussia, located on the Khmara River (Dnieper's basin) southeast of Smolensk, the administrative center of the oblast. Population:

History
It was founded in 1868 as a station on the RigaOryol railway. It was named after one of the many pochinok villages in Smolensk Governorate. The word pochinok means "a new settlement or village built on a clear spot". Pochinok was granted town status in 1926.
