soft commodity, or
softs, are
commodities such as
coffee,
cocoa,
sugar,
corn,
wheat,
soybean,
fruit and
livestock. The term generally refers to
commodities that are grown, rather than mined; the latter (such as oil, copper and gold) are known as
hard commodities.
