Tempo

(2,2,6,6-Tetramethylpiperidin-1-yl)oxyl, or (2,2,6,6-tetramethylpiperidin-1-yl)oxidanyl or TEMPO is a chemical compound with the formula (CH₂)₃(CMe₂)₂NO. This heterocyclic compound is a red-orange, sublimable solid. As a stable radical, it has applications in chemistry and biochemistry. TEMPO was discovered by Lebedev and Kazarnowskii in 1960. It is prepared by oxidation of 2,2,6,6-tetramethylpiperidine. TEMPO is widely used as a radical marker, as a structural probe for biological systems in conjunction with electron spin resonance spectroscopy, as a reagent in organic synthesis, and as a mediator in controlled radical polymerization. The stability of this radical is attributed to the resonance provided by non-bonding electrons on the nitrogen atom, which form a 2c3e (half-) bond between nitrogen and oxygen, and hyperconjugative ability. Additional stability arises from the steric protection provided by the four  methyl groups adjacent to the nitroxyl group; however, the methyl groups prevent a double bond occurring between either carbon adjacent to nitrogen. The stability of the radical is also indicated by the weakness of the O-H bond in the hydrogenated derivative TEMPO-H. With an O-H bond dissociation energy of about 70 kcal/mol, this bond is about 30% weaker than a typical O-H bond.

2,2,6,6-Tetramethylpiperidinyloxyl (TEMPO) ist ein stabilisiertes Radikal, das als Oxidationsmittel eingesetzt werden kann. Es ist thermodynamisch zwar nicht stabil, doch rührt seine vergleichsweise hohe Persistenz von Substituenten her, welche die Lebensdauer durch sterische Effekte beeinflussen. Die Substituenten befinden sich in Nachbarschaft zum Radikalelektron, sodass es in sauerstofffreier Lösung eine mittlere Lebensdauer von einer Minute besitzt.

Das Tempo (ital. „Zeit“; Plural: Tempi /'tmpi/; von lat. tempus; dt. auch Zeitmaß) gibt in der Musik an, wie schnell ein Stück zu spielen ist, bestimmt also die absolute Dauer der Notenwerte. Da die Notenwerte der heutigen Notenschrift nur relative rhythmische Wertverhältnisse darstellen, bedarf es zur Bestimmung ihrer Dauer zusätzlich einer Tempobezeichnung. Die hierfür seit dem 17. Jahrhundert verwendeten, vorwiegend italienischen Bezeichnungen lassen jedoch dem Ausführenden weiten Spielraum. Deshalb wird oft zur Präzizierung der Tempobezeichnung eine Metronomangabe hinzugefügt.

Tempo (en plural, tempi), movimiento o aire en terminología musical hacen referencia a la velocidad con la que debe ejecutarse una pieza musical. Se trata de una palabra italiana que literalmente significa «tiempo». En las partituras de una obra el tempo se suele representar al inicio de la pieza encima del pentagrama.

Het is een nitroxylradicaal, waarbij het ongepaard elektron gedelokaliseerd over de stikstof-zuurstofbinding. TEMPO wordt gebruikt als reagens of katalysator in organische redoxreacties. Het radicaal kan onder milde omstandigheden reversibel worden geoxideerd. In zuivere toestand komt TEMPO voor als rode geurloze kristallen, die matig oplosbaar zijn in water.

Onder het tempo (van Italiaans tijd, meervoud: tempi) wordt in de muziek de snelheid verstaan waarmee een muziekstuk gespeeld wordt. Ter aanduiding van het tempo worden Italiaanse termen gebruikt, zoals allegro, vivace, presto en dergelijke, waarmee globaal het tempo bepaald is. Voor een nauwkeuriger aanduiding wordt de duur van een bepaalde noot vastgelegd, door verwijzing naar de metronoom. Meestal komt de snelheidsaanduiding met een metronoomcijfer overeen met de teleenheid (puls) van de maatsoort, en is de Italiaanse tempoaanduiding gerelateerd aan dat pulsgevoel.

Le (2,2,6,6-tétraméthylpipéridin-1-yl)oxy ou (2,2,6,6-tétraméthylpipéridin-1-yl)oxyl ou TEMPO est un composé organique de formule (CH₂)₃(CMe₂)₂NO^•. Ce composé hétérocyclique est un solide rouge-orangé sublimable. C'est un radical stable à CNTP qui a été découvert en 1960 par et et qui a des applications en tant que tel en chimie et biochimie. Il est largement utilisé comme marqueur radicalaire, comme sonde de structure de systèmes biologiques, en vue d'analyse par spectroscopie RPE, comme réactif en synthèse organique et comme médiateur dans des polymérisations radicalaires contrôlées.
