Verkhoyansky District
Verkhoyansky District (; ) is an administrative and municipal district (raion, or ulus), one of the thirty-four in the Sakha RepublicRussia. It is located in the northern central part of the republic and borders with Ust-Yansky District in the northeast, Momsky District in the east, Tomponsky District in the south, Kobyaysky District in the southwest, Eveno-Bytantaysky National District in the west, and with Bulunsky District in the northwest. The area of the district is . Its administrative center is the urban locality (a settlement) of Batagay. Population: 13,666 (2002 Census); The population of Batagay accounts for 34.1% of the district's total population.
