Virginia

The Virginia / North Carolina Athletic Conference was a short-lived intercollegiate athletic conference that existed from 1920 to 1922. As its name suggests, the league's members were located in the states of North Carolina and Virginia. It is unknown which teams won its football championship during its three seasons in existence.

Virginia ( , ), officially the Commonwealth of Virginia, is a U.S. state located in the South Atlantic region of the United States. Virginia is nicknamed the "Old Dominion" due to its status as the first colonial possession established in mainland British America, and "Mother of Presidents" because eight U.S. presidents were born there, more than any other state. The geography and climate of the Commonwealth are shaped by the Blue Ridge Mountains and the Chesapeake Bay, which provide habitat for much of its flora and fauna. The capital of the Commonwealth is Richmond; Virginia Beach is the most populous city, and Fairfax County is the most populous political subdivision. The Commonwealth's estimated population is over 8.3 million.

Virgínia is a Brazilian municipality in the state of Minas Gerais. As of 2009 its population is estimated to be 8,544.

Während des Bürgerkriegs spalteten sich die nordwestlichen Bezirke ab und wurden zum eigenständigen Bundesstaat West Virginia. Hauptstadt Virginias ist Richmond.

La Mancomunidad de Virginia (oficialmente, y en inglés, Commonwealth of Virginia) es uno de los 50 estados de los Estados Unidos de América, situado en la costa Atlántica del Sur de Estados Unidos. Recibe su nombre por la reina Isabel I de Inglaterra, quien, al no haber contraído nunca matrimonio, era conocida como «la reina virgen». El estado es conocido por el apodo de «Viejo Dominio» (Old Dominion) y a veces por el de «Madre de Presidentes», por ser el lugar de nacimiento de  presidentes estadounidenses (incluidos cuatro de los cinco primeros).

Virginia (Nederlands verouderd: Virginië) is een van de staten van de Verenigde Staten. De standaardafkorting voor de "The Old Dominion", zoals de bijnaam luidt, is VA. De hoofdstad is Richmond. Virginia is een van de vier staten, samen met Kentucky, Massachusetts en Pennsylvania, die zich een gemenebest (commonwealth) noemen. Dit is alleen een deel van de historische naam van de staat, en heeft verder geen juridische betekenis.
