The
Israeli West Bank barrier or
wall (for further names see here) is a
separation barrier built by the Israeli government in the West Bank or along the 1949 Armistice Line known as the "
Green Line". Upon completion, its total length will be about and separate about 9.4% of the
West Bank and 23,000
Palestinians from the bulk of that territory.
Nathaniel Wallich
Nathaniel Wallich FRS (28 January 1786 – 28 April 1854) was a
surgeon and
botanist of Danish origin who worked in India, initially in the Danish settlement near
Calcutta and later for the
East India Company. He was involved in the early development of the
Calcutta Botanical Garden, describing many new plant species and developing a large herbarium collection which was distributed to collections in Europe. Several of the plants that he collected were named after him.

Israelische Sperranlagen (Westjordanland)
Als
Israelische Sperranlagen bezeichnet man eine 759 Kilometer lange Absperrung entlang der Grenzlinie zwischen
Israel und dem
Westjordanland. Die Absperrung verläuft zum überwiegenden Teil auf dem Territorium des Westjordanlandes. Mit einem ersten Bauabschnitt wurde am 16. Juni 2002 begonnen. Der Bau ist zu 60 Prozent fertiggestellt (Stand 2010). 2004 erklärte der
Internationale Gerichtshof in einem von der UN-Vollversammlung in Auftrag gegebenen Gutachten, dass Israel mit dem Bau der Anlagen gegen Völkerrecht verstoße.

Eine
Mauer (von
lat. murus) ist eine massive Wand aus Mauerwerk. Umgangssprachlich ist damit meist eine freistehende Mauer gemeint, d.h. ein freistehendes und flaches
Bauwerk. In seiner üblichen Bedeutung als einer aus
Steinen und
Mörtel errichteten Wand wurde das Wort in der Zeit entlehnt, als germanische Stämme die römische Steinbautechnik kennenlernten, und ist daher - wie viele andere Begriffe des Bauwesens auch - lateinischen Ursprungs.

groene lijn, in de
Westelijke Jordaanoever en in een klein gedeelte door Israël.

barrière de séparation israélienne est une construction en
Cisjordanie en cours d'édification par
Israël depuis l'été
2002, sous les noms officiels de «
גדר ההפרדה -
Geder HaHafrada » en hébreu (littéralement :
grillage de séparation), ou de «
clôture de sécurité » . L'objectif déclaré serait de protéger la population israélienne en empêchant physiquement toute « intrusion de terroristes palestiniens » sur le territoire israélien.
