Zayd ibn ‘Ali (, also spelled
Zaid, Zayyed; 695–740) was the grandson of
Husayn ibn Ali, and great-grandson of
Ali ibn Abi Talib. Zayd was born in
Medina in 695. He is the son of
Ali ibn Husayn "Zayn al-Abidin".
Ibn Qutaybah in his book “al-Ma‘arif” republished in 1934 from Egypt writes (at page-73) that one of wives of 4th Shia Imam belonged to
Sindh and she was mother of Zayd ibn Ali. Similar reference has also been inferred in book “Zayd Shaheed” by Abd al-Razzaq al-Hasani, published from
Najaf
