The
active intellect (also translated as
agent intellect,
active intelligence,
active reason, or
productive intellect) is a concept in classical and medieval
philosophy. The term refers to the
formal (
morphe) aspect of the intellect (
nous), in accordance with the theory of
hylomorphism.
