adapt

ADAPT is a grassroots United States disability rights organization with chapters in 30 states. It is known for being part of the militant wing of the disability rights movement due to its history of nonviolent direct action in order to bring attention to the lack of civil rights the disability community has. However, ADAPT also practices legislative policy advocacy, grassroots education and mobilization, and individual members may engage in legal advocacy, as in the case of individual ADAPT members suing the Chicago Transit Authority in the 1980s.

Eine evolutionäre Anpassung, in der wissenschaftlichen Terminologie als Adaptation bezeichnet, ist ein in einer Population eines bestimmten Lebewesens auftretendes Merkmal, das für sein Überleben bzw. seinen Fortpflanzungserfolg vorteilhaft ist, und das durch natürliche Mutation und anschließende Selektion für seinen gegenwärtigen Zustand entstanden ist. Ein Merkmal kann in diesem Zusammenhang sowohl eine morphologische Besonderheit als auch eine Verhaltensweise sein. Damit ein Merkmal adaptiv ist, also als Anpassung in den Genpool einer Population einfließen kann und sich darin verbreiten kann, muss es erblich sein, d. h. eine genetische Basis besitzen. Die sexuelle Fortpflanzung besitzt im Vergleich zur asexuellen Fortpflanzung eine höhere Rate der Anpassung.

L'ADAPT, l'association pour l'insertion sociale et professionnelle des personnes handicapées, est un organisme qui lutte pour l'intégration des personnes handicapées. Créée en 1929 par une vingtaine de personnes handicapées, elle s'est focalisée sur un objectif précis : faire en sorte que la personne handicapée retrouve sa dignité par une réinsertion dans la société active et professionnelle.

Adaptacja (łac. adaptatio – przystosowanie) – przystosowanie się organizmu poprzez zmianę struktury lub funkcji do życia w nowych dla niego, trwale zmienionych warunkach bytowych lub zewnętrznego stresu. Efektywność adaptacji określa dostosowanie.
