Apathy (also called perfunctoriness) is a lack of feeling, emotion, interest, and concern. Apathy is a state of indifference, or the suppression of emotions such as concern, excitement, motivation, and/or passion. An apathetic individual has an absence of interest in or concern about emotional, social, spiritual, philosophical and/or physical life and the world.

Mit Apathie ( apátheia „Unempfindlichkeit“) bezeichnet man in der Medizin die Teilnahmslosigkeit, mangelnde Erregbarkeit und Unempfindlichkeit gegenüber äußeren Reizen.

Apathie is het gebrek aan emotie, motivatie of enthousiasme. Apathie kan voorkomen bij verschillende psychische stoornissen zoals anorexia nervosa, autisme en depressies of bij uitputtingsverschijnselen, dementie en frontaal syndroom.

L’apathie, synonyme d’impassivité, est un état d'indifférence à l'émotion, la motivation ou la passion. Un individu apathique manque d'intérêt émotionnel, social, spirituel, philosophique, parfois accompagné de phénomènes physiques. L’individu apathique peut également se montrer insensible vis-à-vis d'autrui.
