armed forces

The armed forces of a country are its government-sponsored defense, fighting forces, and organizations. They exist to further the foreign and domestic policies of their governing body and to defend that body and the nation it represents from external and internal aggressors. In broad usage, the terms "armed forces" and "military" are often treated synonymously, although in technical usage a distinction is sometimes made in which a country's armed forces may include both its military and other paramilitary forces. Armed force is the use of armed forces to achieve political objectives.

Der Armed Forces Football Club ist ein Fußballverein aus dem westafrikanischen Staat Gambia. Er spielt in der GFA League First Division, der höchsten Liga im gambischen Fußball, und war zuletzt in der Saison 2009 nationaler Meister. Armed Forces (1979) est le troisième album studio d'Elvis Costello, son second avec The Attractions, et le premier à officiellement créditer le groupe sur la couverture de l'album à sa sortie. L'album portait le titre Emotional Fascism pendant sa création. C'est le troisième album produit par Nick Lowe, et il a été enregistré à Eden Studios à Londres.

Une armée est une organisation structurée d'hommes et de femmes armés visant à conquérir ou à défendre un territoire, détruire ou protéger d'autres unités militaires ou des unités civiles (entreprises, administrations…).
