auditory ossicle

The ossicles (also called auditory ossicles) are three bones in either middle ear that are among the smallest bones in the human body. They serve to transmit sounds from the air to the fluid-filled labyrinth (cochlea). The absence of the auditory ossicles would constitute a moderate-to-severe hearing loss. The term "ossicle" literally means "tiny bone" and, though the term may refer to any small bone throughout the body, it typically refers to the malleus, incus, and stapes (hammer, anvil, and stirrup) of the middle ear.

Die Gehörknöchelchen (lat. Ossicula auditus, wörtlich „Knöchelchen des Gehörs“) sind kleine Knochen im Mittelohr der Wirbeltiere mit Ausnahme der Fische (Fischschädel), die mechanische Schwingungen auf das Innenohr weiterleiten. Die Gehörknöchelchen treten evolutionär erstmals bei Amphibien in Form eines einzelnen Knöchelchens auf, das als Säulchen (Columella) oder Steigbügel (Stapes) bezeichnet wird. Bei den Säugetieren kommen zwei weitere Gehörknöchelchen, Hammer (Malleus) und Amboss (Incus), hinzu.

De gehoorbeentjes of ossicula auditus zijn drie minuscule botjes die in het middenoor zitten. Het zijn de kleinste botjes in het menselijk lichaam.

Chez l'homme les osselets sont trois petits os qui appartiennent à l'oreille moyenne et sont contenus dans la partie pétreuse de l'os temporal (le rocher). Ce sont de l'extérieur vers l'intérieur : le marteau (ou malleus), l'enclume (ou ) et l'étrier (ou ). Ce sont les trois plus petits des os du squelette.

Kosteczki słuchowe (kostki słuchowe, łac. ossicula auditora) – najmniejsze kości znajdujące się w uchu środkowym i wchodzące w skład kośćca ssaków. Pośredniczą one w przekazywaniu bodźców dźwiękowych ze świata zewnętrznego do układu nerwowego. Składają się na nie: młoteczek (malleus), kowadełko (incus') i strzemiączko (stapes).
