Body armor
Body armor or Body armour, or personal armor/armour is protective clothing, designed to absorb and/or deflect slashing, bludgeoning and penetrating attacks by weapons. It was historically used to protect military personnel, whereas today, it is also used to protect various types of police (riot police in particular), private citizens, private security guards or bodyguards. Today there are two main types: regular non-plated personal armor (used by the people mentioned above, except combat soldiers) and hard-plate reinforced personal armor, which is used by combat soldiers, police tactical units and hostage rescue teams.

Бронежилет
Бронежилет — одежда, предотвращающая проникновение пули в тело и, следовательно, защищающая от выстрелов. Состоит из материалов, разрушающих пулю и рассеивающих её энергию, например, кевлара и металлических или керамических пластин.
По российскому ГОСТ Р 50744-95 бронежилеты разделяются на следующие классы защиты:
- 1 — от пуль пистолета Макарова (ПМ) и револьвера Наган
- 2 — от пуль пистолетов ТТ и ПСМ
- 2а — от выстрела из охотничьего ружья 12-го калибра
- 3 — от стандартных пуль автоматов АК
- 4 — от пуль автомата АК-74 повышенной пробиваемости (ПП)
- 5 — от стандартных пуль винтовки СВД и пуль с термоупрочнённым сердечником автоматов АК
- 5а — от бронебойных пуль автоматов АК
- 6 — от пуль винтовки СВД с термоупрочнённым сердечником
- 6а — от бронебойных пуль винтовки СВД

護甲
護甲又稱防彈護甲，分為防彈衣、防彈背心。香港通常稱之為避彈衣。其中防彈衣和防彈背心是有分別，香港常誤稱兩者為避彈衣。護甲是用來吸收槍枝發射的子彈或爆炸的碎片的衝擊力量的個人身體護具，不同種類有不同的運行原理。護甲分為軟式和硬式。
