Unreported employment, colloquially called working under the table, nixers being paid cash-in-hand or moonlighting (in U.K. English), is employment not reported to the state. This is often done by the employer or the employee for tax evasion or circumvention of other laws. Unreported employment is a major factor of the underground economy.

Unter einem Schwarzmarkt ( auch Schleichhandel oder österr. mitunter noch Agiotage) versteht man einen illegalen Teil der Schattenwirtschaft.

De zwarte markt is de economische bedrijfssector waarin onwettige economische transacties plaatsvinden, in het bijzonder het illegaal kopen en het verkopen van koopwaar. De goederen kunnen zelf onwettig zijn, zoals de verkoop van verboden wapens of de onwettige drugshandel; de koopwaar kan gestolen zijn, de koopwaar kunnen wettelijke goederen zijn die onwettig worden verkocht om belastingsbetalingen of vergunningen te vermijden, zoals sigaretten of niet geregistreerde vuurwapens. Ook minimum- en maximumprijzen kunnen leiden tot het ontstaan van een zwarte markt. Het wordt "zwarte markt" genoemd omdat het uit het gezicht van de wet plaatsvindt.

• obrocie towarami nielegalnymi (np. narkotykami, bronią),
• rozpowszechnianiu materiałów objętych prawem autorskim bez zezwolenia,
• wykonywania usług nielegalnych,
• bimbrownictwie,
• handel legalnymi towarami, lecz pochodzącymi z kradzieży.
