Clastic rock
Clastic rocks are composed of fragments, or clasts, of pre-existing minerals and rock. A clast is a fragment of geological detritus, chunks and smaller grains of rock broken off other rocks by physical weathering. Geologists use the term clastic with reference to sedimentary rocks as well as to particles in sediment transport whether in suspension or as bed load, and in sediment deposits.

Klastisch gesteente
Klastisch (Grieks: κλάσειν - 'breken') wil zeggen dat een gesteente of sediment is opgebouwd of bestaat uit fragmenten van afgebroken gesteente (zogenaamde klasten). Sedimentaire gesteenten en sedimenten zijn vaak klastisch, maar ook metamorfe gesteenten en stollingsgesteenten kunnen klastisch zijn.

Clast
En geologia, un clast és principalment un fragment d'una roca sedimentària que prové de l'erosió d'una altra. Quan una roca és atacada per la meteorització física o química es transforma en partícules de mides diverses anomenades clasts.Generalment totes les roques i minerals poden aparéixer com clast: quars, feldspats, carbonats, arenisca, eclogita, esquistos i molts més.
