A collision is an event in which two or more bodies exert forces on each other for a relatively short time. Although the most common colloquial use of the word "collision" refers to incidents in which two or more objects collide, the scientific use of the word "collision" implies nothing about the magnitude of the force.

Ein Stoß ist ein Vorgang, bei dem zwei oder mehr Körper kurzzeitig Kraft aufeinander ausüben. Als Folge ändern die Körper ihren Bewegungszustand, möglicherweise auch ihre Form und Zusammensetzung. Een botsing is de gebeurtenis in de mechanica en de natuurkunde, waarbij twee voorwerpen (in de ruimste zin) elkaar als gevolg van hun onderlinge beweging raken.
