Der
ungarische Forint ist die
Währung Ungarns. Ein Forint ist formal in 100
Fillér (dt.
Heller) eingeteilt, diese Einheit hat jedoch seit Ende der 1990er Jahre keine Bedeutung mehr. Nach dem Ende des
Zweiten Weltkriegs wurde der Forint 1946 wieder eingeführt und hielt sich bis Mitte der 1980er Jahre stabil. Nach dem Zusammenbruch des sozialistischen
Regimes kam es 1991 mit dem Wandel von
Zentralverwaltungswirtschaft zu freier
Marktwirtschaft zu einer
Inflation. Der Wert des Forints fiel drastisch und im Jahr 1991 lag die Inflationsrate bei 32,2 %, im Jahr 2009 dagegen nur noch bei 5,6 %. Mit der Eingliederung Ungarns in die
EU wird der Forint vom
Euro ersetzt werden, nicht jedoch vor 2020. Hierfür muss Ungarn aber zunächst den Wechselkursmechanismus II erfüllen.
