glissando

In music, a glissando (plural: glissandi, abbreviated gliss.) is a from one pitch to another. It is an Italianized musical term derived from the French glisser, to glide. In some contexts it is distinguished from the portamento. Some colloquial equivalents are slide, sweep (referring to the 'discrete glissando' effects on guitar & harp respectively), bend, smear, rip (for a loud, violent gliss to the beginning of a note), lip (in jazz terminology, when executed by changing one's embouchure on a wind instrument), or falling hail (a glissando on a harp using the back of the fingernails).

Der Begriff Glissando (auch glissato, glisscato, glissicando; vom französischen glisser „gleiten“ abgeleitet) bezeichnet in der Musik die kontinuierliche (gleitende) Veränderung der Tonhöhe.

Un glissando (en plural, glissandi; del francés glisser, "resbalar, deslizar") en música es un adorno, un efecto sonoro consistente en pasar rápidamente de un sonido hasta otro más agudo o más grave haciendo que se escuchen todos los sonidos intermedios posibles dependiendo de las características del instrumento. Op toetsinstrumenten zoals een piano is een glissando alleen diatonisch op de witte toetsen of pentatonisch op de zwarte toetsen mogelijk, op bijvoorbeeld klarinet wordt het veelal uitgevoerd met gebruik van een combinatie van kleppen- en riettechniek, waardoor het een zeer instrumentspecifieke klank verkrijgt.
