Herkogamy is a common strategy employed by hermaphroditic
angiosperms to reduce sexual interference between male (
anthers) and female (stigma) function. Herkogamy differs from other such strategies (e.g.
dichogamy) by supplying a spatial separation of the anthers and stigma.
