Iran , également connu sous le nom de la
Perse, en forme longue la
République islamique d'Iran , est un pays d'
Asie de l'Ouest. Elle partage des frontières avec l'
Afghanistan, l'
Arménie, l'
Azerbaïdjan, l'
Irak, le
Pakistan, le
Turkménistan et la
Turquie. Sa capitale est
Téhéran (ou Tehran) et sa population est de habitants en octobre 2015. La
langue officielle est le
persan et sa
monnaie est le
rial. Le calendrier officiel est le
calendrier persan. Le nom
Iran, qui signifie « royaume des
Aryens », d'usage natif depuis
l'ère Sassanide, a été officiellement adopté en
1935 pour l'usage international. Auparavant, le pays était connu en Occident sous le nom de
Perse. Les noms « Perse » et « Iran » sont utilisés indifféremment dans le contexte culturel, mais « Iran » est le nom utilisé officiellement dans le contexte politique.
