The kilogram or kilogramme (SI unit symbol: kg), is the base unit of mass in the International System of Units (SI) (the Metric system) and is defined as being equal to the mass of the International Prototype of the Kilogram (IPK also known as "La Grande K" or "Big K").

Das Kilogramm ist die SI-Einheit der Masse. Seine Masse ist festgelegt durch die des Internationalen Kilogrammprototyps (auch Urkilogramm), eines Zylinders aus Platin-Iridium, der vom Internationalen Büro für Maß und Gewicht verwahrt wird. Das Einheitenzeichen des Kilogramms ist kg.

De kilogram (ook het kilogram) is sinds 1901 de internationale standaardeenheid voor massa en daarmee een van de zeven basiseenheden van het SI.

Le kilogramme, dont le symbole est kg (en minuscule), est l'unité de base de masse dans le Système international d'unités (SI). Il est défini comme étant égal à la masse du prototype international du kilogramme.
