preach

A sermon is an oration, lecture, or talk by a member of a religious institution or clergy. Sermons address a Biblical, theological, religious, or moral topic, usually expounding on a type of belief, law or behavior within both past and present contexts. Elements of the sermon often include exposition, exhortation and practical application.

Predigt (lat. praedicatio), auf Englisch und Französisch sermon (von lat. sermo ‚Wechselrede, Gespräch; Vortrag) ist eine Rede mit religiösem Inhalt oder eine Rede im Kontext einer religiösen Feier. Die Predigt hat einen besonderen Stellenwert im Neuen Testament und im christlichen Gottesdienst. In der christlichen Theologie wird die Lehre von der Predigt als Homiletik bezeichnet.

De preek of prediking is een belangrijk onderdeel van de eredienst in verschillende godsdiensten. De leer van het doordenken, maken en geven van een preek of homilie heet homiletiek.

Kazanie (łac. sermo) – gatunek literatury stosowanej, przemowa wygłaszana zwykle przez osobę duchowną wyznania chrześcijańskiego, która ma za zadanie nauczanie i przekazanie treści religijnych. Odmianą gatunkową kazania jest homilia, często błędnie uważana za synonim tego terminu. Do 1970 roku kazania w Kościele katolickim były głoszone z ambony, obecnie – częściej z kazalnicy (zwanej też poetycko stołem słowa Bożego).
