Un
remake (du verbe anglais «
to remake » qui signifie « refaire »), ou une
reprise, est un film dont l'histoire a déjà été portée à l'écran. Le concept de remake est le même pour les adaptations littéraires. La première adaptation du livre est la version originale (et appelée adaptation littéraire), les suivantes sont des remakes. En fonction des choix des nouveaux
réalisateurs et
producteurs, le nouveau film peut être plus ou moins fidèle à l'original, allant du
remake plan par plan (
Psycho de
Gus Van Sant) au
remake totalement libre (
Piranha 3D, dont le scénario n'entretient plus qu'un vague rapport avec le
Piranhas original). Le terme est étendu à la télévision et aux jeux vidéo, où certaines séries et certains jeux ont connu des reprises.
