Academic fencing
Academic fencing (German akademisches Fechten) or Mensur is the traditional kind of fencing practiced by some student corporations (Studentenverbindungen) in GermanyAustriaSwitzerland, and to a minor extent in FlandersLatviaLithuania, and Poland. It is a traditional, strictly regulated épée / rapier fight between two male members of different fraternities with sharp weapons. The German technical term Mensur (from Latin, dimension) in the 16th century referred to the specified distance between each of the fencers.

Schlager music
Schlager music (, , synonym of "hit-songs" or "hits"), also known in the United States as entertainer music or German hit mix, is a style of popular music prevalent in Central and Northern Europe, and Southeast Europe (in particular GermanyAustria, the NetherlandsFlandersRepublic of MacedoniaSloveniaSerbiaCroatiaHungarySwitzerlandTurkeyScandinavia and the Baltic States) and also (to a lesser extent) in France and Poland. In Portugal, it was adapted and became pimba music.
