socialize

Socialization, also spelled socialisation, is a term used by sociologists, social psychologists, anthropologists, political scientists, and educationalists to refer to the lifelong process of inheriting and disseminating norms, customs, values and ideologies, providing an individual with the skills and habits necessary for participating within their own society. Socialization is thus "the means by which social and cultural continuity are attained".

Sozialisation ( ‚verbinden‘) wird im einflussreichen "Handbuch der Sozialisationsforschung" von Klaus Hurrelmann und Kolleginnen und Kollegen definiert als "Prozess, durch den in wechselseitiger Interdependenz zwischen der biopsychischen Grundstruktur individueller Akteure und ihrer sozialen und physischen Umwelt relativ dauerhafte Wahrnehmungs-, Bewertungs- und Handlungsdispositionen entstehen". Sozialisation ist demnach die Anpassung an gesellschaftliche Denk- und Gefühlsmuster durch Internalisation (Verinnerlichung) von sozialen Normen. Sozialisation ist ein sozialwissenschaftlicher Begriff. Er bezeichnet zum einen die Entwicklung der Persönlichkeit aufgrund ihrer Interaktion mit einer spezifischen, materiellen und sozialen Umwelt, zum anderen die sozialen Bindungen von Individuen, die sich im Zuge sozialisatorischer Beziehungen konstituieren. Sie umfasst sowohl die absichtsvollen und planvollen Maßnahmen (Erziehung), als auch die unabsichtlichen Einwirkungen auf die Persönlichkeit. Außerdem gehören Schulen, Ausbildungen wie auch Sportaktivitäten dazu.

La socialisation est le processus au cours duquel un individu apprend à vivre en société, durant lequel il intériorise les normes et les valeurs, et par lequel il construit son identité psychologique et sociale. Elle résulte à la fois de contraintes imposées par certains agents sociaux, mais aussi du développement de comportements prosociaux et d'interactions entre l'individu et son environnement physique et socioculturel. Elle favorise la reproduction sociale sans éliminer les possibilités de changement social. Ce processus est majeur durant l'enfance (« socialisation primaire ») et l'adolescence, mais se poursuit tout au long de sa vie (« socialisation secondaire »).

Socjalizacja (łac. socialis = społeczny) – proces (oraz rezultat tego procesu) nabywania przez jednostkę systemu wartości, norm oraz wzorów zachowań, obowiązujących w danej zbiorowości. Socjalizacja trwa przez całe życie człowieka, lecz w największym nasileniu występuje, gdy dziecko rozpoczyna życie w społeczeństwie. Największą rolę na tym etapie odgrywają jego rodzice, później także wychowawcy i rówieśnicy oraz instytucje (takie jak szkoła czy Kościół).
