Splice may refer to:

as connection of two or more pieces of linear material

• Rope splicing, joining two pieces of rope or cable by weaving the strands of each into the other
• Eye splice, a method of creating a permanent loop in the end of multi stranded rope by means of rope splicing
• Splice joint, a method of joining two members end to end in woodworking
• Tape splice, the joining of audio tape
• Film splice, the joining of film stock
• Electrical splice, the joining of wires in electrical wiring
• Optical splice, the joining of optical fibers:
  • Fusion splicing, a permanent splice between two fibers
  • Mechanical splice, a temporary splice between two fibers
• Pile splice, connecting two concrete, timber or steel piles for a deep foundation

splice() is a Linux-specific system call that moves data between a file descriptor and a pipe without a round trip to user space. The related system call vmsplice() moves or copies data between a pipe and user space. Ideally, splice and vmsplice work by remapping pages and do not actually copy any data, which may improve I/O performance. As linear addresses do not necessarily correspond to contiguous physical addresses, this may not be possible in all cases and on all hardware combinations.

Splice o Splice: Experimento mortal en español, es una película francocanadiense del género del terror y ciencia ficción de dirigida por Vincenzo Natali y protagonizada por Adrien Brody y Sarah Polley. Tuvo como productor al respetado director Guillermo del Toro.

Splice is een Amerikaans-Canadees-Franse horror-sciencefictionfilm onder regie van Vincenzo Natali. De productie ging op 6 oktober 2009 in wereldpremière op het Filmfestival van Sitges. Daar won de film een prijs voor de beste speciale effecten. Actrice Delphine Chanéac won op het Vancouver Film Critics Circle Awards tevens de prijs voor beste bijrolspeelster in een Canadese film. Splice werd daarnaast genomineerd voor onder meer vier Genie's en twee Saturn Awards.
