throne

A throne is the seat of state of a potentate or dignitary, especially the seat occupied by a sovereign on state occasions; or the seat occupied by a pope or bishop on ceremonial occasions. "Throne" in an abstract sense can also refer to the monarchy or the Crown itself, an instance of metonymy, and is also used in many expressions such as "the power behind the throne".

Als Thron (von lat. thronus zu gr. thrónos „Stuhl, [Herrscher]Sitz“) wird der meist opulent gestaltete Stuhl als Insigne eines Monarchen bezeichnet, auf dem dieser zu besonderen Anlässen Platz nimmt. Thron kann abstrakt auch die Monarchie selbst meinen.

Een troon is een symbolische of ceremoniële ambtszetel. Het gebruik van dergelijke zetels komt in allerlei culturen voor.

Un trône est un siège, une chaise ou un fauteuil sur lequel un souverain est assis dans les circonstances solennelles.
Le trône, au sens figuré du terme, désigne aussi la monarchie ou la Couronne elle-même; un exemple de métonymie.

Tron (gr. thronos, thranus, łac. thronus – taboret, siedzenie) – oficjalne określenie siedziska najczęściej o kształcie krzesła, na którym monarcha zasiada przy oficjalnych okazjach. W sensie abstrakcyjnym tron określa również władzę monarchii. Wstąpienie monarchy na tron (intronizacja) podczas obrzędu koronacji oznacza początek panowania władcy.
