tributary

A tributary or affluent is a stream or river that flows into a larger stream or river main stem (or parent) river or a lake. A tributary does not flow directly into a sea or ocean. Tributaries and the main stem river serve to drain the surrounding drainage basin of its surface water and groundwater, leading the water out into an ocean.

Ein Nebenfluss ist ein Fließgewässer, das in ein anderes, normalerweise größeres Fließgewässer mündet und diesem damit tributär ist.

Un affluent est un cours d'eau qui se jette dans un autre cours d'eau, en général au débit plus important, au niveau d'un point de confluence. Un affluent ne se jette donc pas directement dans une mer ou un océan, ce qui le distingue d'un fleuve.

La richesse est l'abondance de biens ou de revenus.

Dopływ – rzeka lub mniejszy ciek, który nie uchodzi bezpośrednio do zbiornika wodnego (morza, jeziora), ale do innego cieku. W zależności od tego, z której strony brzegu rzeki (patrząc od źródła) dopływ łączy się z nią, wyróżnia się dopływy lewe i prawe. Ponadto dopływy posiadają swoje własne dopływy – tworzą w ten sposób hierarchię sieci rzecznej: rzeka główna, dopływy pierwszego stopnia, drugiego, trzeciego, itd.
